Re: Memory Loss?

The two traveled for the day, not speaking to eachother much. When the sky turned orange and the sun's light was low, they had made it to Griever's Trail, but couldn't go any further, or they'd be stuck navigating the cliffsides in the middle of the night. And THAT would be just plain stupid.

Wolf sat back as Yuuki fiddled with a can of soup trying to pry the thing's lid off, but it was jammed. He tossed her a knife from his supply bag and sat with a grin on his face as she began to poke the can carefully with the pointy thing.

He then stood and walked over, took her hands. She jerked at first, then blushed as he assisted her with stabbing the knife in the top and prying the can apart far enough to let the soup out. Then poked another hole to let air in the top.

After she got the lid off, she poked the fire, waiting for it to get hot enough. When it was finally warm, she warmed the soup and they ate. She pulled out her map and went to sit by Wolf.

"So, where are we going?" she asked, laying the map on the ground in front of her.

She heard a sound and she jumped up pulling a fan from the pouch hidden under her skirt, but was just an animal

Wolf turned his head slightly to see the critter scapmer at the edged of the fire-light. "You're too uptight...you should relax more."

"I'm a ninja! I'm supposed to be alert at all times." she exclaimed.

"Yeah, but you're not alert, you're jumpy. Calm down a little, if anything happens, we're both capable to handle it..." he sighed.

There was another rustle, this one much louder, and seemingly closer. Wolf stood up and spun about, drawing a pistol as he did.

"Something like that just now?" Yuuki asked readying herself against what may come from the blackness.

"Yeah...something like that..." Wolf replied as a massive bear rose up from behind a tree and glared at the two.

Yuuki looked at the bear and snorted.

"I can take care of him myself," she said.

She closed her fan and pulled out her katana. She rushed at the bear only to have him swipe at her, and she was thrown into a nearby tree, her shoulder bleeding profusely.

"Damn it," she muttered.

The bear, interested in Yuuki came at her. She pulled a kunai out and threw it at him. It hit his shoulder, but she just managed to piss it off further.

The blow from the bear came down at her, it was so fast that Wolf had no time to react. He rushed in and tackled Yuuki out of the way and was smashed into the tree himself. If he hadn't rolled his body along with the hit, it would've surely killed him, but he managed to avoid death.

Yuuki rolled from the shove Wolf gave her, and jumped to her feet to see him lying there on the ground. The bear let out a fierce roar and reared back for another swing down to it's prey.

"HEY!" Yuuki shouted at it grasping, then releasing a handfull of shuriken from a pouch on her leg. They managed to get the bear's attention and turned him her way, away from Wolf.

Looking up and seeing the bear hadn't finished him off, Wolf stood slowly and readied both his pistols. The bear inched closer to Yuuki, growling in a rabid way. As it was preparing to rush at her and finish her off, Wolf managed to leap out from behind it and mount it's back. He placed both his handguns into the creature's back and let loose with a barrage of lead into it's ribs, before being grabbed and thrown to the side.

The creature was in pain now, bleeding and dying, but not dead yet. Wolf wouldn't be getting up for a while, so he looked over toward Yuuki and nodded just before passing out.

"Wolf!" Yuuki yelled.

She looked back at the bear. This was her chance. She pulled her sword back and a charge seemed to surround the blade.

"Black Rose!" she cried out.

She released a wave of energy along the ground toward the bear. It hit him and he fell over dead. She stood there for a couple seconds looking at the dead bear. Then she staggered over to Wolf. The wound on her shoulder was worse than she thought. She had lost a lot of blood and she was getting dizzy.

"Wolf," she said, shaking him. "Wolf! Wake up!"

Wolf's eyes slowly blinked open as he was being shaken. He looked up to see Yuuki, blood dripping from her shoulder and onto his face. A smile came to her face, but only for an instant. Then her arms supporting her weight went weak, and she fell, sprawled out on the ground.

The mercinary sat up instantly, regretting it because of the pain. He figured he'd broken a couple of ribs. They would heal in a few hours thanks to his enhancements, but Yuuki was hurt, and she didn't have an overdriven adrenal system to repair her body. He crawled to her, rolled her over and proceeded to check her vitals. Her heart was still beating, and she was still drawing air, so she was stable for now. Wolf climbed to his feet and grabbed some bandages from the supply-kit and proceeded to take off her shirt and treat and wrap the wound as best he could. But he could tell she'd be in trouble if they didn't get help soon. It'd be an all-day trip back to Rufturf, and he didn't think she could last that long. The Grazeland Plantation was only a couple of miles away, however, that would involve running throught the cliffsides at night. He didn't have time to debate with himself which route to take, and decided he'd risk it.

He grabbed what supplies he could carry, increased the adrenaline output to his body, and hoisted up Yuuki in his arms, and took off at a jog. He could reach the plantation in thirty minutes if he hurried, but if he didn't watch his step while crossing the cliffs, he'd surely end up killing them both. Not to mention creatures in the cliffsides that could put that bear to shame. He'd have to be careful indeed.

Yuuki woke up in a bed some time later. She didn't know how long she had been out. As she stirred, she realized how good the shirts felt on her skin. Curious, she looked down and noticed that her shirt was gone.

"WHERE THE HELL IS MY SHIRT?!" she yelled.

She heard footsteps outside in the hall and Wolf came busting in. Yuuki and him looked at each other, before Yuuki screamed and covered herself up. She tried to get out of bed to reach her pouch, but she was still weak. So, she just glared at him from the floor.

"Where is my shirt, Wolf?" she asked again.

Wolf was unsure weather to go over and help her up and risk accidentally groping her, or just answer her question, so he decided on the latter of the two. "Well...there wasn't much left of it after the bear attacked, but if you still want it, it's with your other belongings in the closet over there."

Yuuki had managed to summon up enough strength to stand up with the blanket and bandages covering her. Wolf didn't look all that great but he was doing better than she was. "So...what happened?" she asked.

"You passed out at the campsite and wouldn't stop bleeding, so I dressed the wound as best I could, picked you up and ran here with you through the cliffside." he explained as she made her way over to the closet and looked around at everything. "We made it to the Grazeland Plantation a few hours ago. The sun's come up only just recently."

"And this young man hasn't slept for a second since you've arrived." an old woman said as she walked into the room, "I've told him that we'd take good care of you, but he insisted that he'd be here for you if you needed him."

Yuuki stared at the two of them, holding back the redness in her cheeks as best she could. She didn't have anything dark on to cover up the color of her face, just those damn white sheets. WHY did they have to be WHITE?!

"Anyways, you two," the woman said, breaking the silence, "Breakfast is ready if you want any, and afterwards, you should try to get some rest, okay?"

Wolf nodded and followed her out of the room, glancing back once to see if Yuuki needed anything, though, when he did, he was just in time to see her drop the sheets and begin to dress herself, turn, then scream at him, and begin throwing random heavy things his way. And thus, he ate breakfast with three golf-ball sized lumps on his head, and a black eye, followed soon by Yuuki who had to resort to wearing a farm-girl dress while her shirt was being sewn together again.

After breakfast, the two went out for a walk around the plantation. The people there were really nice, and didn't mind the company. Eventually, the two made it to a large tree in a patch of strawberries and Wolf commenced to sit up against it. Yuuki followed suit and before she knew it they were in a "classic romantic setting" that she did NOT want to be in. But as she looked over, about to say his name, she noticed that he was asleep, soundly.

As Yuuki watched him sleep, her cheeks turned pink. Each minute she spent with him, the more she felt drawn to him. Damn it. This can't happen! It just can't! She suddenly found herself inches from his face. She shook her head and jumped up. Yuuki had to get away from him before she did something stupid. She wasn't stupid enough to leave the property in her condition. She found a stream and sat down next to it.

"If Father knew my feelings, he would kill me," she said to herself.

Wolf had awoken after sleeping the entire day away until the sun was about to set. His broken bones had healed, they were a little sore, but he would be fine now. And Yuuki had recovered from her injury enough to be travel ready it seemed.

They could stay the night at the plantation again, the old lady had already given him permission. "Hmm...I guess it really will take three days." he thought, "I wonder if the fortune teller knew this was going to happen?"

Wolf arrived back at the house to see everyone already enjoying dinner. He was invited over and sat next to Yuuki at the table and ate the meal. Then still feeling a bit tired retreated to his and Yuuki's room.

'Sharing a room with a 17 year old girl...' he thought, 'this seems sooo familiar...'

Yuuki had already gone back to the room and was in the process of changing into her pajamas when Wolf walked in. This time, she didn't scream, she merely glared. He had seen her half naked plenty of times already. At least, she had her shirt on. With a soft huff, she walked to her bed and crawled under the covers.

"Good night, Wolf," she said.

Wolf was surprised he wasn't catching random flying object by now and could feel that something was up with her.

"Yuuki...?" he asked, "Is som--"

"Good night, Wolf..." she interrupted, repeating herself as if she was brooding.

He didn't know what to say, and simply replied, "Good night..." and climbed into bed. He wasn't really sleepy after sleeping all day, but he managed to get to sleep somehow. They could continue their journey in the morning.

((I've been up for nearly 24 hours. I am sleepy >.<))

The next morning, after breakfast, Yuuki and Wolf started on their journey again. Yuuki's wound still hurt, but she had to bear it. She had to find out what she was missing. She walked a few feet in front of Wolf. She was kind of ignoring him, and trying to read a map, but she couldn't read a map. And she wasn't even going to ask Wolf to help her. She was upset with herself about what almost happened.

"Stupid Yuuki," she muttered softly to herself.

"We should be at Everpece Harbour in a couple of hours if we just keep following the trail." he stated, making the fact she was reading a map seem stupid. She slowly closed the map, hiding it from his view, and put it in her pack, shooting him a mental-glare at the same time.

There was a rustling in the treeline off to the side of the road, followed instantly by a gunshot from Wolf, dropping the squirrel instantly. Yuuki spun about, half scared to death. "Why the HELL did you just shoot that poor squirrel?" she screamed at him.

"I missed the squirrel," he explained, "but it did hit awefully close to him. After the bear incident, I'm not taking any chances."

Said squirrel got up and scampered off into the woods, and Yuuki turned and kept walking with a pissed off look on her face. However, Wolf knew that squerrels didn't make noises that loud. He had apparently missed his intended target. Someone or something was following them...watching them. They'd be in Everpece soon, maybe he'd be able to find their stalker once they got there. Maybe he or she would know what happened to Yuuki's memories, or what if they were even the cause of the memory loss to begin with?

Yuuki stopped abruptly and Wolf bumped into her.

"Oof! Yuuki? Why did you stop like that?" he asked.

Yuuki didn't seem to hear him. Her green eyes were blank. Wolf followed her gaze and saw a black cloaked figure. At that moment Yuuki started to walk toward him.

"Heh heh heh. You won't be able to save her now," the guy said. "She belongs to me now. There is only one way to save her, but I don't think you have the guts to kiss her."

((It's a Phantom of the Opera thing. Christine was entranced by his singing. Here, Yuuki is addicted to his voice. He's using his mind to talk to her, so, he can talk to Wolf, but keep his grip on Yuuki.))

Wolf wasn't sure exactly what was going on, but he knew that Yuuki wasn't acting right. He grabbed her by the arm, twisted her to the ground, and sat on her back. He then drew a pistol out against his opponent and made his declaration: "You can't have her until you come over here and move me from this spot!" Yuuki, even with her light body would've been able to throw Wolf away from the positoin he was sitting on her in, if she really wanted to.

The cloaked man wasn't expecting this, and took a step back. The pistol fired and the round ricoched off the ground to the side of the shadowy man. "Don't you freakin' MOVE!" Wolf shouted, readying his pistol to take out one of the man's knee-caps if he moved again. "Tell me what you did! Then, UN-DO it!"

The man started to laugh.

"Do you think a bullet can hurt me?" he asked.

At that moment, Yuuki threw Wolf off her and stood up pulling her katana out. She was being controlled, and her eyes were still blank.

"I want Yuuki, and if you try to stop me from taking her, she will kill you, even if she doesn't want to," the man said, laughing.

"Wo...lf...." Yuuki said.

'His control's getting stronger...' Wolf thought to himself, 'He says bullets won't hurt him...so let's test that theory...' Wolf leaped into the air, drew out his second pistol, and cut loose with a barrage of gunfire, blanketing this "Phantom" in explosive-magnum rounds. As the smoke cleared, he could see the figure still standing there, covered by a barrier of light, unscathed. Wolf fell back to earth as the man snapped his fingers, and Yuuki immediately rushed Wolf with a full on barrage of slashes from her sword.

Wolf retreated, surprised at her speed, she was almost as fast as he was at 70% adrenal output, which is the highest level he can get to without causing damage to his body. But if he wanted to survive this encounter, he'd have to take it up a notch. He waited for an opening in her attack, rushed foreward and with both hands, shoved her away, then stood for a second, caught his breath, and released the massive burst of adrenaline through his body.

The result of the burst was the appearance that everything around him was moving slowly. As Yuuki recovered from the knock-back she had recieved, she swung down with her sword again, attempting to cleave Wolf's scalp in two, but as the blow came down, he simply sidestepped, avoiding it by inches, then spun around behind her and bolted off towards his target, placing his pistols back in their holdsters. Wolf lept into the air, and crossed his arms across his chest in an "X" like fashion. As he fell towards the cloaked man, his arms began to emit a bright blue glow and materialized his gauntlets around his arms. "Block this!" Wolf shouted as he collided fist-first with the phantom's shield and the vibrations of his gauntlets tore through it instantly, leaving the figure wide open.

The Phantom seemed to dissappear and appeared over by Yuuki.

"Fu fu fu fu! Do you think you can beat me?" he asked. "Yuuki! Attack!"

Yuuki stood there just staring at Wolf. Her green eyes didn't seem to be as blank.

"Wo...lf...." she said.

"Yuuki!" the Phantom said.

And once again he took control over her mind and she rushed at Wolf again.

Speed and defence seemed to be this guy's strong suit, and Wolf had speed and offence on his side. Yuuki was versed with virtually the same type of attack style that Wolf had, aside from the long-range/short-range style difference, they were virtually the same. Wolf knew that this could end badly for him if Yuuki managed to get any faster or if that guy would start attacking. Then he realized, that his hold on Yuuki had weakened in the instant it took him to teleport over to her. Maybe he'd be able to force him to move again, and restrain Yuuki once more.

He took that chance, and with the momentum of one of her swings, he caught the blade between both of his gauntlets, and bounced her backwards, then lept over her to go full speed at the man. Again, the phantom faded from reality and Wolf skidded to a halt, spun around, dispersed his gauntlets, and threw Yuuki to her knees, grabbing his arms around her from behind and throwing away her sword. She was immobile. Even if she wanted to break this hold he had on her, it was physically impossible for her to do so. The phantom materialized about thrity feet off in the distance from the two and Wolf noticed that Yuuki had regained some of the brightness back to her eyes.

Yuuki somehow managed to situate herself so she was facing Wolf. Her eyes were no longer the bright green they used to be. They were blank and lifeless. She aimed a well placed knee to Wolf's gut, then after pulling her arms free, she kicked him in the face. she sent Wolf flying into a nearby tree. She was much stronger when she was being controlled.

"Come Yuuki. We need to go now," the Phantom said.

Yuuki was motionless, staring at Wolf.

"YUUKI!" he yelled.

Yuuki turned from Wolf and followed the Phantom. They both disappeared into the trees.

"Hold it!" Wolf yelled, rolling up to his feet and bursting off after the two. He cleared through countless trees hoping he was on the right trail. He broke through the other side of the thickery only to find a tremendous castle looming off in the distance, overlooking the ocean. He knew that an ominouse looking place like that MUST be where that phantom lived. He took off towards it. "I'm not sure what he's plannning to do..." Wolf said, "but he most DEFINITELY can't do it to her!"

He reached the castle gates quickly, but found them locked, and after much consideration about wasting his trumpt card or not, he decided now would be the best time. He lept back and his left arm glowed a blinding blue color, and as the glow faded, he was holding a gigantic canon, his Impactor. The gun was pointed at it's target, the doors, and as Wolf stood there, taking up a readied stance for the blast, the barrel of the weapon glowed with immense power. "SHOOP DA WHOOP!" the ball of energy flew out from the canon and crashed into the main gate, and as the explosion came, it tore the doors open, then even threw out brick from the very frame of the walls themselves. When the smoke cleared, it was abundantly clear that Wolf had preformed the most epic act of "Kicking a door in" ever.

"Hmph. He found my lair," the Phantom said.

Him and Yuuki were in the control room watching everything.

"Yuuki, why don't you go greet him?" he said.

"Yes, sir," she said.

She left the room and headed to the front doors to meet Wolf.

"Heh heh. Once she kills Wolf, she will become mine and then I will own Shihana!"

Wolf strolled through the halls of the castle, they seemed endless. "How'd this guy keep this place a secret?" he wondered as he continued to walk.

There was a flash of blue from the corner of his eye, and he instinctively brought up his arm in defence of his face. This proved painful, but it saved his life, as the kunai that was thrown lodged itself in his forearm.

Yuuki stepped out from the shadows and walked toward him like a robot, with her sword in hand. Wolf removed the knife from his arm, bleeding a good bit as the wound met with the open air.

"I'm sorry Yuuki," he said, "but we've got to get out of here..." he rushed her once more, this time, ready to take her to the ground and knock her to her senses if need be.
